Stephen Bron
It's Beautiful Today
October 30 - November 12, 2020
We are happy to present this special surprise exhibition of five new paintings by Stephen Bron. They are a follow up to his well received summer show, "Dancing Barefoot". Juxtaposing large swaths of brushed color, finely detailed figures, and his characteristic use of the untouched canvas as light, Stephen Bron creates paintings that oscillate in the liminal space between abstraction and figuration. Sourcing images from old books and magazines, his own photographs of nature and his domestic life, and the realm of the imagination, Bron’s paintings are an amalgamation of the dream world and the everyday. Bron crafts worlds of mysterious encounters on a moody shore, or solitary engagements with the sun and sea, or intimate moments between two lovers. The genesis of these images came from Stephen's time spent in Provincetown this summer. They are a welcome surprise for us as well as for anyone who appreciates lyrical, intimate, thoughtful painting with a Provincetown connection.
